“My First Day at School” observed in Dormaa West

The District Chief Executive for Dormaa West District, Mr Francis Kwadwo Oppong and the district director of  education , Mr. Kwadwo Bofa  have visited 6 schools in the district, as part of the “My First Day at School” programme, instituted by the government of Ghana.

“My First Day at School” visit was to allow the DCE, the district director of education and their officials to welcome fresh entrants of primary one and kindergarten to school and encourage them to attend school regularly, increase enrolment and strive to learn hard.

Mr. Bofah commended the pupils for choosing education over everything. He advised them to learn hard so that they could become renowned persons in their communities and Ghana as a whole.

The DCE noted that the government has provided the needed environment for sound teaching and learning and called on all teachers to complement the efforts of the government to ensure quality education for school children.

He also advised the pupils to learn hard to achieve their aims. He mentioned some interventions such as the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme, and the supply of textbooks to enhance teaching and learning.

They were accompanied by the district SHEP Coordinator, Mr. Kyeremeh Emmanuel, and other officers from the education directorate, including the SISO for the Circuit, Mr. Azumana Kwadwo.

The DCE distributed soft drinks and biscuits to motivate and welcome the fresh pupils to Kindergarten and Class One.

In all, a total of 341 pupils in the six schools were received as new entrants to start their education journey.

The schools they visited were Nkrankwanta D/A Primary, Yaw-Owosukrom D/A Nkrankwanta Presby, Nkrankwanta Islamic, Nkrankwanta R/C and Nkrankwanta SDA Primary.
