MTN marks 13th Anniversary of ‘momo’ operations

MTN Ghana has launched Mobile Money Month to observe its 13 years of enriching and impacting the lives of millions of Ghanaians. Mr. Nii Adotey Mingle, General Manager in charge of the Northern Business sector, explained at the event that the benefits of MTN Mobile Money was immeasurable, and commended the initiators, their partners, entities, banks, and the media for making it successful over the years in accelerating the growth of E-payment.

According to him, 13 years had been quite a journey over which period the service had been improved upon. He said moving towards the digital age Mobile Money had been an enabler, basically creating a platform of things operated in the ecosystem for payment of school fees, other digital services, withdraw and payment of goods and services.

Mr. Cringle stated that, there are excesses where one can use mobile money to bring other entities like banking as partners to reach the ecosystem, whether one is a market trader, a driver, looking for an airline ticket, whether ordering a meal or Amazon one can use mobile money for payment.

He disclosed that, MTN is looking up the youth coming up as they have realizes that, the threshold of adults  above 18 years are registered from the Senior High Schools to get on board to know the use of mobile money payment to avoid the  risk of carrying cash and the better  use mobile money.

The General Manager revealed that their customers’ behaviors changed after the introduction of E-levy and that they are looking for space expecting that they would come back to the normal transaction as it is returning to normalcy.

Tawfiq Mooned, in charge of Mobile money operations, disclosed that, there would be points for active users of Mobile money through P to Pair time top up, Data Top up, fees platforms for Basic, Senior High Schools and Tertiary students through compilation of points. He said there would be stakeholders’ forum and fair to bring out vendors including Agents and Merchants network mobile money at a discount.
