MTN-Ghana Foundation has won four awards at the recently ended Sustainability and Social Impact (SSI) Awards night for its efforts at championing Sustainability and Social Impact.
The company’s corporate social investment arm took home four trophies in the Best Company in Educational Sponsorship Project; Best Company in Economic Empowerment, and Best Company in Employee Volunteerism Initiatives (SSI Project of the Year, Socio-Economic) categories.
The Sustainability and Social Investment Awards is a programme to raise awareness of businesses engaged in significant neighborhood development initiatives aimed to motivate businesses, CSI/CSR foundations, NGOs, and other project implementers to produce high-impact CSI/CSR initiatives that support the government’s focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The awards also use a multi-stakeholder strategy that produces great results and was on the theme for this year “Leading the Sustainability Transition Through Private-Public Partnerships and Collaboration”.
The MTN Ghana Foundation has committed US$64 million since its founding in 2007 in more than 158 major projects in the fields of education, health, and economic empowerment that are directly benefiting an estimated 4,000.000 people and many more indirectly.
Mr. Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager of the MTN Ghana Foundation, expressed his profound gratitude to the organizers for the recognition and the prizes.
He stated that the awards are a testament to the impact MTN is creating in communities across Ghana, adding that, this year marks the 15th anniversary of the MTN Ghana Foundation and that the awards set the tone for the anniversary celebrations.
Mr. Kuzoe dedicated the award to the Foundation Board, the management, the staff of MTN and the beneficiaries of their impacted projects.
