The Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, Dorcas Afo-Toffey, has given hope to the family of a six-year-old boy suffering from Hyposdadias at Half-Assini.
When all hope seemed lost by the family of the innocent child, given the severity of the ailment, the Legislator extended her benevolence to them by taking up the medical cost of the ailment.
Hypospadias is a medical condition where the penis and the scrotum are fused together.
This act of generosity evidently has taken the financial burden off the family.
For now, what the family must do is to prioritise the child’s recovery and well-being without the added pressure of having to look for money to cater for the medical cost.
The Chronicle understands that the financial support being extended to the family by the Legislator has given them hope that the child will survive.
The latest intervention by the MP brings up to 350, the number of people who have been supported the Jomoro Legislator in her constituency.
A representative of the family, Matthew Aduko Ackah, saw it as a dream when the rep of the MP, Fidelis Somiah, presented the cheque covering the medical expenses of the boy to him. According to him, he never thought that the MP would come to their aid though the ailment the boy is suffering is known to everyone at Hlaf-Assini.
To Aduko Ackah, what the MP had done demonstrated her love, care and as a family “we are short of words to describe MP’s gesture”.
Fidelis Somiah, a representative of the MP told the family the gesture exemplified the MP’s unwavering commitment to serving her constituents and easing the financial struggles of those in need.
The presentation was led by Fidelis Somiah, an assistant to the MP, accompanied by David Somiah, the constituency director of elections, Grandpere, constituency deputy Organiser and Miss Patricia Enstuah, deputy constituency Treasurer.
