The minority leader and Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has given significant support to Muslims in Effutu to support their observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
The support included the donation of 90 bags of rice, 30 bags of sugar and 22 cartons of milk, which were meant to assist the Muslim community in the constituency as they fulfil their spiritual commitments of fasting and prayers during the sacred period of Ramadan.
The Assembly Member for the Abasraba North Zongo Electoral Area, Alhaji Sanni Mohammed, who presented the items on behalf of the Member of Parliament, indicated that the gesture reflected the MP’s continuous commitment to religious harmony and community welfare.
According to him, the donation has become an annual tradition by the Effutu legislator and
continues to provide meaningful support to many Muslim households during the fasting period.
He said “This kind gesture has been a yearly practice by Osahen Afenyo-Markin. It greatly supports many members of the Muslim Ummah in Effutu and makes the observance of Ramadan a little easier for them.”
The Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Effutu Constituency, Alhaji Musa Osumanu, who received the items on behalf of the Muslim community, thanked the minority leader for the support.
He noted that Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the social and spiritual wellbeing of his constituents by supporting various community initiatives including Health, Education, Entrepreneurship, as well as social and religious activities.
In view of this, the Nasara Coordinator expressed appreciation to the Minority Leader for his sustained concern for the welfare of the Muslim community, noting that such acts of generosity strengthened the bond between leadership and the people.
The items are expected to be distributed among Muslim communities across the Effutu constituency to ensure that vulnerable households benefited from the support.
The annual Ramadan donation by the MP has been welcomed by the people as an initiative that underscored commitment to inclusiveness and his recognition of the indispensable role of the Muslim community in the development of the constituency.
