Mining coy goes to the rescue of Amansie South

Goldline Mining Ghana Limited, a Ghanaian-owned mining company, has announced plans to assist the Amansie South District to bridge the gap in infrastructural deficit.

Earmarked for Aponapon, the project aims at constructing eight bridges at the catchment areas of the said community to enable the residents to have easy access to their source of livelihoods such as farming, trading, and education among others.

The mining company also aims to construct the 2.5kms stretch of road from Manso Kensere to Manso Aponapon.

The infrastructure development comes upon the heels of a torrential rainfall which swept away the Aponapon-Wahaso bridge in the communities on June 24, this year, cutting off Aponapon from other communities in the Amansie South District.

At a groundbreaking ceremony at Aponapon, Mr. Emmanuel Ababio, Chief Executive of Goldline Mining Ghana Limited, disclosed that the company had since made available 800 bags of cement, ten trips of sand, ten trips of stones, 32 tonnes of iron rods, and one concrete mixture to commence the project.

Ababio told the function that the completion of the project would assist the residents to go about their day-to-day activities, and that it was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to ensure people in its host communities are happy.

He bemoaned developments where workers of a construction company connived with inhabitants of the community to steal raw materials meant for construction work.

The CEO subsequently implored the people of Aponapon to support GLM in its quest to provide infrastructure for the community.

On his part, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie South, hailed GLM for coming to the aid of the district, saying more often than not, Ghanaians always looked up to the state to develop their communities for them, but Mr. Ababio and his organisation did not wait upon the government.

Opoku Gyamfi urged Ghanaians to emulate the shining example of the GLM in complementing the developmental agenda of Amansie South.

He urged the Aponapon and entire district to support GLM in its quest to construct roads and bridges for the community, and desist from engaging in activities that would derail the progress of the project.

According to him, such mentality did not promote national development and must be shunned at all costs.
