Medeama win ‘Nzema Derby’ to end winless run

Medeama have finally ended their winless run in the ongoing season after inflicting a 2-0 victory over Karela United in the ‘Nzema’ derby this morning at the Akoon Park.

The game was initially scheduled to be honoured on Sunday afternoon but was rained off after 68 minutes, with the game being postponed to 10am yesterday morning.

The Mauves and Yellows dominated the game but rarely created clear-cut opportunities before the rains disrupted play.

Justice Blay returned to the Medeama squad for the first time this season, after he suffered from long injury lay off, and was handed a starting spot.

With the game resuming this morning, Justice Blay who just made a sensational sideline return, opened the scoring account after converting neatly from the penalty spot.

Having gotten the opener, the two time FA Cup conquerors took charge of the game. Patrick Kofi Ansu scored again to double their lead and also wrap up their victory.

Medeama have now recorded their first win of the campaign after four matches despite the recent overhaul at the club and are hoping to maintain this momentum in their subsequent matches.
