Let’s produce more to feed ourselves

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Techiman North in the Bono East Region, Addo Donkor-Everson, has observed that agriculture contributes a lot to the growth of the economy, hence, the need for every citizen to join the agenda to produce more food.

“More food will enable us to feed ourselves and export some, since the government is committed to help every Ghanaian to excel in the agric sector, while the government is committed to also support farmers by liaising with stakeholders by way of providing financial and technological support to the citizenry,” he said.

Mr. Donkor-Everson again urged the youth to take advantage of the flagship programmes to venture into the agriculture sector to cushion them in their respective areas.

The DCE said this during this year’s 37th Farmers Day celebrations at Bonya.

Mr. Donkor-Everson stressed that farmers should have trust in Nana Addo’s government, since they had farmers at heart, and for that the reason the government had introduced various pro-poor farmer policies like Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village one Dam, Greenhouse Project, etc., which must be embraced by all.

He further said that he would do his best to support farmers in the area in all aspects to uplift the image of the district.

The DCE thanked all sponsors and stakeholders who helped in diverse ways to make this year’s Farmers Day a success, and urged all award winners to work extra harder to climb the ladder to the regional and national levels in the subsequent years.

In all, nine individuals, including some associations, were honoured at Bonya.
