Asante Kotoko and Debibi United charged

Asante Kotoko and Debibi United have been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over an alleged breach of the Premier League regulations following their opening league fixture.

The two clubs have been charged for allegedly failing to publish video highlights of their match within the stipulated 48-hour period.

Kotoko and Debibi United played out a 2-2 draw in their opening game of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with the newly promoted side earning a point in their historic top-flight debut.

However, the GFA has now opened disciplinary proceedings against both clubs over their handling of the match highlights.

“It is alleged that both clubs failed to publish video highlights of the match within 48 hours after the game. The clubs have until Friday, September 11, to respond to the charges,” the GFA said in a statement.

The two clubs are expected to submit their responses before the deadline, after which the appropriate disciplinary process will continue.

Kotoko will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Heart of Lions, while Debibi United prepare to face Bechem United.
