Mr. Patrick Kwame Frimpong, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Presiding Member, has been re-elected as Dean of the Conference of Presiding Members in the Ashanti Region.
The re-election gives him the opportunity to serve as dean for a third consecutive term to oversee the affairs of the conference. Mr. Frimpong, who doubles as the Assembly Member for Krofrom East Electoral Area and First Vice Chairman of NALAG, was re-elected last Friday at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi during a conference of Presiding Members from Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the region.
Having served two consecutive terms as dean, his re-election makes him the first Presiding Member in the Ashanti Region to lead the conference for three successive terms. The feat is expected to further strengthen his influence within the local governance fraternity, particularly at a time when MMDAs continue to play an important role in Ghana’s decentralisation and development agenda.
The decision by members of the Ashanti Regional Conference of Presiding Members to return Frimpong for a third consecutive term is widely seen as a vote of confidence in his leadership, which further underscores the importance members attach to experienced leadership and effective representation in advancing the concerns of Presiding Members at both regional and national levels.
As dean, Mr. Patrick Kwame Frimpong is expected to continue providing leadership and coordination for Presiding Members across the region while serving as a voice for their concerns and interests.
The position also provides an opportunity for him to promote greater collaboration among Presiding Members and encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences in the administration of local assemblies.
