Keda Ceramics, a ceramic manufacturing company operating in Shama, has presented a cheque of GH¢20,000 to support the refurbishment of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Press Center in Takoradi.
The presentation was in response to an appeal made by the inky fraternity chapter in Takoradi to assist renovate the center and make it congenial for journalists and stakeholders in the media.
David Wei, Commercial Manager of Keda Ceramics Ghana Limited, who presented the cheque to Desmond Cudjoe, Western Regional GJA Chairman, emphasised on the role of journalists in the socio-economic development of the region and country.
He indicated how the company aimed to impact positively in its operational area and to continue with the good working relationship and peaceful co-existence.
Dr. David Yevugah, Human Resource Manager of Keda Ceramics Ghana Limited, pointed out that journalists played an important role in the development of the country. As a result, contributing to the refurbishment of the Press Center was in the right direction.
“We are happy to partner the journalists in the Western Region, and we believe we can do more to support the progress of your work in the future,” he added.
Desmond Cudjoe, Western Regional Chairman of the GJA, expressed gratitude to the management of Keda Ceramic for the kind gesture and appealed to other institutions within the region for support.
He added that the donations received so far for the refurbishment of the center had been put to good use.
He stressed the need for corporate entities to factor into their budgets some amounts to finance the capacity building of journalists to enable them report accurately and be familiar with the operations of some entities.
