Kasapreko salesman in court over alleged theft

Mohammed Addai Domfeh, a 29 year old  van sales man at Kasapreko Company Limited has been admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢100,000.00 with two sureties. He is accused of stealing GH¢74,011.70 belonging to the Kasapreko company.

Domfeh pleaded not guilty to the charge when brought before an Accra Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour, Samuel Bright Acquah on Tuesday.

The court has adjourned the next hearing of the case to April 3, 2023.

Inspector Shella Tetteh, holding the brief of Superintendent Augustine Yirenkyi told the court that Rita Adofo Darkwaah, a Sales Supervisor of Kasapreko Company Limited is the complainant in the case. She told the court that the accused was employed by the company as van sales personnel.

Insp Tetteh added that between December 2022 and February 2023 the company detected various inconsistencies in Mohammed’s credit accounts and hence conducted internal variance audit.

Therefore, on February 21, 2023 the accused was contacted to avail himself at the company’s head office at Spintex, Accra to assist with investigations, but he declined and went into hiding at Sefwi Asafo.

The company, therefore, reported the case to the police and a wireless message was sent to Sefwi Asanwinso, leading to the arrest of accused from his hideout and handed over to the Baatsonaa Police for investigation.

On March 14, 2023, the company conducted internal variance audit in the presence of the accused and detected that funds in the sum of GH¢74,011.70 belonging to the company was misappropriated.

During investigations, the accused denied the offence in his caution statement.
