Actor Julia Roberts has congratulated Pep Guardiola and Manchester City on winning the Champions League final against Inter.
This will have been a special congratulations for the coach, who has previously declared that he is a big fan of the Hollywood star.
“Congratulations, Pep Guardiola, for leading your team to be Champions League champions,” Roberts posted on Instagram, along with an image of Guardiola kissing the trophy.
The congratulations from the famous Hollywood actress garnered nearly 100,000 likes in just 11 hours.
Guardiola and his comments about Julia Roberts Guardiola once made a curious remark that went viral after Manchester City knocked out RB Leipzig to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals.
“I’m a failure in the Champions League,” he said.
“I have three idols in my life: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Julia Roberts.
“Julia Roberts came to Manchester, a few years ago and not in the 1990s when Sir Alex [Ferguson] was winning titles and titles and titles.
“She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, and she went to visit Manchester United. She didn’t come to see us.
“That’s why even if I win the Champions League it will not compare for the fact that Julia Roberts came to Manchester and didn’t come to see us.
“Even if I win the Champions League it will not compare to this disappointment I had.”
Now, with this Instagram post, perhaps that disappointment stings a little less.
