Joao Felix sparks fury at Atletico by admitting he ‘would love to join Barcelona’

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has revealed that he would ‘love to join Barcelona‘ this summer, with fans now defacing his plaque.

The Portugal international had a fairly underwhelming spell in the Premier League at Chelsea, who did not pursue a permanent transfer this summer.

This has left his future in doubt as he has trained with Atletico Madrid’s academy for part of pre-season in Spain. As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Felix opened up on his future in a come and get me plea to Barcelona.

‘Barcelona has always been my first choice and I would love to join them,’ he said.

‘It was always my dream since I was a kid. If it happens, it will be a dream come true for me.’

This comes as Marca report that the only current offer on the table for Felix is from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa. However, the forward is believed to have rejected the proposal as he wishes to play in the Champions League next season.

The admission has left fans furious, with supporters account Atleti Francia reealing that his plaque at the stadium has been defaced.

With his name crossed out, the fans wrote next to his plaque ‘Va Al Barca’, a direct translation which means ‘Go to Barcelona’.

Furthermore, Marca have now reported that his statement to Romano has sparked outrage within the club.

Atletico Madrid consider it ‘unprofessional and disrespectful’ while they say that his agent know exactly what ‘conditions must be met for his exit’.

It remains to be seen as to what the future holds for all parties, with the situation getting messy in Spain.
