JFK, Nana B donate GH¢200K to “Heal KATH” Project

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua Esq and the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, alias Nana ‘B’, have jointly donated GHc200,000.00 to the “Heal Komfo Anokye” Project.

Lawyer Kodua said at a brief ceremony in Kumasi on Friday that the duo had followed the official launch of the renovation project and decided to contribute their quota, upon their conviction that the project would serve Asanteman.

He said they had been inspired by the laudable initiative by the King, that they and indigenes of Asanteman, as direct beneficiaries of the project, could not sit aloof but  to come pay their dues and help Prof Otchere Addai-Mensah to give this place the befitting facelift it deserves’’.

The General Secretary expressed his commitment towards the project and assured that he would whip members of the NPP, as well as government appointees in line, to donate towards the Project.

He hinted that the New Patriotic Party as an entity would soon donate to the project, adding the Vice President who leads the party would be briefed to ensure that the party commits itself in a grand style.

Lawyer Kodua recommended that the management of KATH initiates maintenance and retooling Trust Scheme so that the people in the region and indigenes elsewhere could contribute monthly to the same.

“I would suggest that the CEO initiates a Scheme so that people in the region and indigenes wherever they are could contribute to the same, so as to enable KATH carry out its own retooling and maintenance, to keep the hospital in shape’’, the NPP chief scribe suggested.

Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah expressed the Board and Management’s gratitude for the generous gesture by the two individuals.

He noted that referrals from 12 regions of the country to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on daily basis over the years had stretched the hospital to its limits and they have to maintain the facilities at the same time.

“Government cannot do these renovations and maintenance alone, and so we were glad that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, decided to lead the “Heal Komfo Anokye” initiative to get KATH in a proper shape to respond to cases more confidently and provide the best environment for visitors and staff’’, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah stated.
