Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has revealed that he has never bought a mobile phone for himself, saying friends and family have regularly stepped in to replace his devices over the years.
The BET-winning rapper made the revelation on X while saying he was in need of a new phone. “Need a new phone … and if I should buy one that’s going to be my first time in life buying a phone for myself,” he wrote.
Sarkodie also credited his wife, Tracy, as well as musician King Promise and other friends, for helping him with phones over the years. “Big shouts to wifey, King Promise and some other friends always getting embarrassed and changing my phones for me,” he added.
When a fan asked who provided the phones he used during his early freestyle days around 2007, Sarkodie pointed to his wife. His latest post has since prompted several people on X to offer to buy or gift him a new phone.
