
Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister for Interior on behalf of the government has visited theAdum PZ Fire victims to empathise with them and to also acquaint himself with the situation on the ground.
The Minister and his entourage together with the Ashanti Regional Minister, the Regional Police Commander and the officers of the Ghana National Fire Service and National Disaster Management Organized (NADMO) visited the scene and consoled the victims who were affected by the devastating fire outbreak.
Alhaji Muntaka donated 1,500 bags of Rice, 800 boxes of Cooking Oil to the traders’ union during the visit. He assured them of the government’s commitment to reconstruct the place to ensure that the victims have a conducive place to ply their businesses.
The Minister disclosed that his outfit would collaborate with the Employment Ministry to ensure that youth recruited into most of the public institutions are trained in basic techniques in fire fighting.
He said more youth are going to be trained and posted to public places, institutions and market places to ensure adequate vigilance and to timely avert any emergency fire outbreaks.
He stated that the market would be modernized to make it accessible in case there is an emergency.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, urged the victims to be patient as steps are being taken to address the challenge to avoid the future occurrence of such an incident.
The minister announced that so far, a total of GH¢600,000 including a GH¢500,000 donation from a philanthropist had been mobilized to support the victims.
