It feels like the 2010s all over again. Following the release of the Netflix documentary “Untold: The Death and Life of Lamar Odom” about a month ago, the once-most-famous couple in L.A. is back to dominating the headlines.
After years of media silence and apparent mutual respect, which even led Khloé Kardashian to participate in the documentary and relive some of the darkest days of her life, it seems the former couple isn’t on good terms, as everyone thought they were.
All of this has deeply upset the 41-year-old, who has now come forward publicly, stating she doesn’t understand why Lamar Odom is discrediting her after everything she did for him.
“Behind the scenes, you, your friends, you guys are all saying how you were with me just for fame. That’s like some f–ked up st. Like, I feel so dumb. I spent hours and time doing this documentary as a favor,” Khloé said.
“I’m not paid one penny. Now Lamar is doing press, annoyed with me. I can’t stand it. Claiming or insinuating that I’m a liar. All these things discrediting me, saying that I wasn’t the one that helped him.”
“For years, he was singing my praises, all this. I don’t even need you to sing my praises, but you’re not now gonna s–t on me or now play in my face because you don’t like the reaction and the response from the public,” she added.
“I just think he wasn’t expecting this response, and now he’s trying to sort of slander me a little bit.”
As a quick reminder, the couple was married from 2009 to 2016, tying the knot after just 30 days of dating. It didn’t take long for them to become the hottest topic in the tabloids, with their fame reaching astronomical levels during that era.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star was, as claimed in the doc, a rising celebrity at the time. Odom simply got swept up in that lifestyle to the point where, for a brief period, he became even more intriguing to the media than Kobe Bryant himself.
The married couple even started filming their own reality spin-off, “Khloé & Lamar”. Amidst the media frenzy surrounding their marriage, many actually forgot just how elite Odom was on the basketball court.
However, all that fame clearly took a negative toll on the 2011 Sixth Man of the Year. He sank deeper into a world of addiction and infidelity, which nearly cost him his life. Miraculously, he survived 12 strokes and six heart attacks in a single night back in 2015.
