Hope in Christ Outreach supports flood victims at Mepe

The Volta Region branch of Hope in Christ Outreach, a religious organisation, has visited the traumatised victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage at Mepe, where a team, made up of one prophet, a pastor and an evangelist, preached the word of God to them and distributed Bibles to about 600 people, including school children.

The Leader of Hope in Christ Outreach in the Ho area, Prophet Prince Nero Atsu, asked the victims not to forget God in these trying moments, saying as human as they were, they would be traumatised, but in all those difficulties, they should remember God and keep faith in him.

Prophet Atsu said Hope in Christ Outreach heard of the development, which moved the leadership to provide them with the word of God which would strengthened their spirits, because, as organisations and individuals donated various foods, water and sanitary items to keep them fit, his outfit also decided to build their spirits, since man should not survive only on food, but also the word.

The Pastor in Charge of Adidome Hope in Christ Outreach, Rev Isaac Asare, said Christians who were victims had lost their Bibles and other belongings, which did not allow them to worship God in their various churches as they normally do, therefore, the free Bibles they had received would enable them to read and pray in their respective safe havens.

Rev. Asare hoped that the Bibles they had received would become a source of hope for them that even though they might have lost their belongings in the flood, they did not lose Christ in the process, therefore, there was the need for them to constantly read the Bible to build their faith in Christ, which was their hope for tomorrow.

The Head of Hope in Christ Outreach at Hohoe, Evangelist Jeremiah Frimpong, took the victims through separate prayers at the Mepe Presbyterian and RC Primary Schools in a short sermon, and reminded the victims that being Christians did not mean they would not pass through trials, but that during the period they should have faith in God, that with Him all things were possible.

A 51-year-old victim, Ms. Comfort Adise, thanked Hope in Christ Outreach for the Bible, and the word of God, saying companies, organisations and individuals had supported them with food, and mattresses among others, and was still restless, but after the worship and prayer sections the leaders of Hope in Christ Outreach took them through, she felt relieved and no more worried about the future.

“I say this to the Glory of God – that material things are good, because they help man to address the physical needs, but things of the spirit are far better than richer and last forever. I am, therefore, appealing to the leaders of Hope in Christ Outreach not to forget us, and they should visit us again, and I am telling you my brother, their visit would remain historic for years to come.”
