The Queen Mother of Ho-Dome, Mama Atrato II, has asked the Ho-Dome EP Basic School management and pupils to participate in the talented Kids programme to give children exposure.
According to her, she was prepared to help the children to participate in the talented kids programme to expose their hidden talents.
The charismatic Queen mother was speaking at the first ever homecoming celebration of Ho-Dome EP Basic School, under the theme: “Proud of Our Foundation, Ready for the Future.”
It was attended by chiefs, parents and old students.
According to Mama Atrato, an old pupil of the school, there are many talents in the school that must be identified and developed through the participation of such programmes.
She, therefore, stressed the need for old students to come in and also help, and that, it was time they give back what the school had earlier given them.
The personal contributions of Mama Atrato, which led to the promotion of quality teaching and learning in the school over the years was recognised by the school management.
She was given a citation for her meritorious services, including sourcing funds from the Japanese Embassy, which she used to build six unit classroom block for the school.
The Warlord of Asogli Traditional Area, Togbe Howusu Adzilakle XII, who is also an old student, lauded the efforts of management, particularly the promotion of discipline, which he stressed, was the hallmark of every successful institution.
Togbe Howusu Adzilakle announced that the Ho-Dome Basic School, as known today, was established in 1930 and was called the Ho-Dome Experimental Primary School, in accordance with 1925 Guggisberg Constitution and educational Reforms of the Gold Coast.
He said the maiden homecoming celebration of old students should be used to reflect on the achievements of the school over the years, challenges confronting the institution and tried to find solution to the problems, particularly the need to construct a fence wall round the school.
The Headmistress of the School, Miss Judith Princess Kuseto, said the lack of fence wall around the school has resulted in stray animals taking over the school compound and disturbing academic work.
