The Hilltop School at Daban, a suburb of Kumasi, has held its 21st Graduation and Speech Day for a batch of 88 male and female students under the theme “Rising Beyond Limits: Celebrating Resilience, Excellence, and the Next Step Forward,”.
The 21st Graduation and Speech Day ended with awards, cultural displays and a call on graduates to go forward boldly and lift one another as they climb, while remaining grounded in the values instilled by Hilltop School.
The Guest Speaker, Dr Akua Amoako, a former student of the School addressing a gathering of students, parents, teachers, alumni and dignitaries to celebrate academic achievement and character formation, charged the graduates to seize every opportunity to learn and grow.
She urged them not to be afraid of the unknown or of starting again, because every new beginning is another opportunity to learn, to grow, and to rise. According to her, Hilltop has done its job well, and the graduates are leaving not just with knowledge but with resilience, excellence and integrity.
Dr. Amoako recounted that Hilltop is where it all began, and is the place that saw something in her before she fully saw it in herself. When she doubted, the school believed and when she hesitated, the school encouraged her.
She urged the graduates to dream bigger, work harder and rise beyond every limit. She advised them to learn hard through discipline and have confidence in Embracing teamwork beyond their comfort zones.
She also advised them to set standards of excellence, because the people that are important in their lives are their classmates and the journey they are embarking on is not one they walk alone.
Dr. Amoako added that life is a series of new beginnings, and each stage strengthens and teaches valuable lessons. She said resilience is choosing growth over comfort, courage over fear, and purpose over ease, and that is the kind of resilience worth celebrating.
Reflecting on her own journey from school prefect to medical doctor, she said Hilltop prepared her not only academically but for life through debates, quizzes, talent shows, cadet band and cultural activities. She noted that those moments taught them confidence, teamwork, discipline and grit. And were the first lessons in stretching beyond their comfort zones.
Mrs. Cecilia Agyei Amoako, the Proprietress of the school, disclosed that Hilltop School has produced scholars and professionals who are contributing meaningfully to national development.
She noted that products of the school consistently excel in the job market and in their chosen fields.
Mrs. Amoako appealed to the government to give equal quotas to both private and public schools students in accessing Senior High Schools after basic education. She also appealed to parents to give school authorities the free hand to train and discipline their wards.
