Gunmen Allegedly Attack Odike

Barely five days after criticizing Manhyia Palace of allegedly playing a role in the galamsey menace in the Ashanti region, the office and staff of the founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPC),  Akwasi Addai, popularly known as Odike, has been allegedly attacked.

The incident, which occurred on Monday 22nd August, 2022 at about 4:30 pm local time by unknown gunmen, saw cars parked in front of Mr. Odike’s office vandalised and the workers physically assaulted.

The armed men, according to a Joy FM radio account, violently shot into the air, scaring the workers and other passers-by at the businessman turned politician office premises.

In a radio interview monitored on Accra-based Joy FM yesterday, Mr. Odike narrated his ordeal and that of his staff, who were ordered by the gunmen to lie prostrate on the floor, while they ransacked his office.

Mr. Odike alleged that the men, who were armed to the teeth, were after his life per information he received. He explained that he had a tip off that some people had been contracted to kill him.

“During the attack, I had no option than to seek for cover and dodge these blood thirsty guys, who shot into my wife’s car. After they left, I went to another room and placed a call to the police to come to my rescue,” he said.

He added that the police has taken up the case and are currently gathering information at the crime scene.
