Later, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) issued a statement to announce that its high voltage lines have been destroyed by “a raging bushfire,” near Tarkwa, tripping its lines.
The outage occurred after GRIDCo’s 330kV Aboadze-Anwomaso line tripped followed by a number of lines in the western corridor of the grid.
The development triggered a system disturbance “causing all thermal plants and Bui generators and customer loads to trip.”

It added that efforts are ongoing to restore power to all affected areas and customers.
It has been over nearly four hours since GRIDCo said restoration of grid had commenced.
As off 16:30GMT, some areas had their power restored, but others continue to wish for that.
