Commissioning the vessel on Friday, Sandra Opoku, the Director of Ports, Tema, on behalf of the Director-General of GPHA, Michael Achagwe Luguje, explained that the latest vessel, which adds to their fleet, is not just a testament to the growth and dynamism of Ghana’s port industry, but also a clear reflection of their commitment to improving operational efficiency, fostering economic growth and strengthening Ghana’s position as a leading maritime hub in the sub-region.

He said, “MPV Gordon Anim is a state-of-the-art multipurpose vessel, designed to cater to a wide range of maritime operations, from responding quickly to oil spills and other hazardous material discharges at sea to collecting floating debris or waste materials.”
That, he added, signified the GPHA’s readiness to embrace the future of maritime trade with advanced technology and sustainable practices.

He urged the staff and stakeholders of the Ports to also renew their commitment to operational excellence, environmental stewardship and customer satisfaction.
“This is our shared journey toward achieving these goals and positioning Ghana as a maritime gateway to Africa and beyond,” he emphasised.

Finally, he encouraged the staff to demonstrate their enormous commitment, contribution, determination and dedication to duty for posterity to reward them as the venerable Gordon Anim for his 35 years of service to the GPHA through various roles.
On his part, Gordon Anim expressed his immense gratitude to the GPHA for the lifetime honour done to him and prayed that the multipurpose vessel would live long to encourage the current and future staff to give their best.

“The staff can see other vessels named after other seniors before me. You must take inspiration from these and give off your best,” he encouraged the staff.
In his 35 years of service, Gordon Anim rose to become the Director of both the Tema and Takoradi Ports for 12 years.
