Gov’t must listen to the people if NPP has to break the 8 -Apraku

Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership aspirant, has stated that the ruling government has a role to play to enable the party break the 8 in the 2024 General Elections.

According to him, the power to break the 8 in the 2024 general elections is in the hands of the ruling party.

“To break the 8, the government must listen to the people and respect the grassroots, let them feel they are important and part of the government”, the renowned Economist said at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) TESCON conference.

The occasion was held for the orientation, capacity building and handing over for freshers.

Dr Apraku observed that, the party is paramount to every member and for that matter they hold the key in their own hands, if they want to break the 8.

He pointed out that if those who voted for the party in 2016 would still vote for the NPP in 2024 the party can win power again.

According to him, despite the party’s challenges in the prevailing harsh economic conditions, constituents must be trusted, respected and acknowledged since enemies who can stop the party from breaking the 8 are within.

The former Trades Minister in the Kufuor administration said the harsh economic conditions need to be addressed by experienced and committed men, who can recover by building internal and external networks in economics.

He also identified another challenge confronting the party, as in the government-party relations, and urged the government to put its house in order before facing the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), if the NPP mean business in breaking the 8.

Dr Apraku underscored that it is better the party works towards victory and make it more formidable and attractive.
