Gov’t completes 15 inherited hospital projects in Ashanti  

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has disclosed that the government has been able to complete about 15 projects initiated by the previous government in the Ashanti region.

He said hospital Projects inherited from the previous government, especially the Fomena hospital, has been completed and is currently operational.

The Konongo hospital in the Asante Akyem Central, Kumawu District hospital and the Tepa Hospitals have also been completed, awaiting commissioning.

The Minister has, therefore, debunked rumours doing the rounds that the government has abandoned hospital projects started by the previous government.

Speaking at a news conference at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, attended by the entire Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs (MMDCEs) in the Ashanti region, the Regional Minister noted that reports from the MMDCEs indicated that the government is committed to completing all the uncompleted projects in the health sector.

According to Mr Osei-Mensah, the government is also committed to the completion of projects it has initiated, including the agenda 111, Mothers and Babies Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), the construction of Trauma and Accident hospital in Obuasi and Twedie government hospital in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

He also said most of the Agenda 111 Projects and other health facilities are at various stages of completion, to help improve the healthcare of the people in the Ashanti region.

The Minister also disclosed that civil works at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Mothers and Babies Unit has been completed, whilst the Ministry of Defense has resolved the challenges which confronted the Afari Military Hospital.

He was optimistic that the contractors would resume work early next year for the project to be completed.

Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah disclosed that the government has been able to roll-out Zipline services in 39 districts within Ashanti, Bono, Bono East and parts of the Eastern region in 350 facilities, which are able to deliver COVID-19 Test samples.
