President John Dramani Mahama has released an amount of GHC30 million to facilitate the completion of the Santasi Roundabout to Bekwai Roundabout dualization road project in Kumasi.

Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) disclosed that the contractor, who abandoned the project in early June, due to financial constraints, has now returned to site following the release of funds.

“We have received about 30 million cedis from government for the contractor working on the Santasi Roundabout to Bekwai Roundabout road, the Kumasi mayor confirmed during Fakye TV’s DayBreak Morning Show, hosted by Kojo Marfo last week.

“In the next three months, we expect at least one lane to be completed and opened for public use,” he stated.

According to the KMA boss, the completion of the road was important because the route served as a critical access link for patients traveling to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) from parts of the Central, Western, Adansi and Amansie parts of the Ashanti region.

“This stretch is a lifeline for people in Santasi, Kokoben, and surrounding communities and   any delay in emergency health transport can endanger lives.

“Completing this stretch will help reduce travel time and ensure patients can reach Komfo Anokye Hospital faster,” he emphasised.

Mr. Ofori Agyeman Boadi clarified that the end of April scheduled for the completion of the project would likely extend to mid-June.

He said from the current progress of work, it is anticipated that the project would be completed by the second week of June.”
