The Ghana National Gas Company Limited (Ghana Gas) has strongly dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging tension between its Chief Executive Officer, Judith Adjobah Blay and the company’s Board of Directors, describing the claims as false, misleading and aimed at creating unnecessary divisions within the state-owned energy company.

In a statement issued on Friday, the company said there was no conflict between management and the Board, stressing that both leadership structures continue to work closely, in pursuit of the company’s strategic objectives and national energy mandate.

According to Ghana Gas, the relationship between Management and the Board, chaired by former Information Minister, Kofi Totobi Quakyi, is built on mutual respect, professionalism, trust and a shared commitment to the growth of the organisation.

“The suggestion of infighting or discord within the leadership of the company is baseless and exaggerated,” the statement said, adding that the reports should be disregarded by the public.

The company expressed concern that the publications appeared designed to manufacture controversy and undermine the progress being made under the current leadership.

The clarification comes amid public discussions surrounding a recent staff promotion exercise undertaken by the company.

Ghana Gas explained that the promotion process, which affected 50 employees, forms part of a broader organisational restructuring programme aimed at addressing long-standing staff career progression issues and realigning operational divisions.

Management noted that the promotions were not arbitrary but resulted from extensive internal consultations and deliberations conducted with the necessary oversight and support of the Board of Directors.

The company rejected suggestions that the exercise had generated confusion or instability within the organisation, insisting that all decisions were taken in accordance with established corporate governance procedures.

Beyond addressing the allegations, Ghana Gas used the opportunity to highlight what it described as significant operational achievements recorded under the current administration.

The company disclosed that production throughput has risen from an average of 100 million standard cubic feet per day to approximately 120 million standard cubic feet per day, representing a substantial increase in gas processing capacity.

According to management, the improvement has strengthened fuel supply to downstream consumers, enhanced Ghana’s energy security and contributed to greater stability within the country’s power generation sector.

The company further stated that ongoing improvements in plant availability and operational efficiency have helped moderate fuel costs for power producers and industrial consumers, providing additional support to the national economy.

These achievements, Ghana Gas said, demonstrate that the organisation remains focused on delivering its core mandate despite attempts by some individuals to portray the company as being in turmoil.

Management reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability and good corporate governance while working collaboratively with the Board to achieve the company’s long-term objectives.

It added that Ghana Gas would continue to play a critical role in supporting Ghana’s energy sector and advancing the country’s broader development agenda through reliable gas processing and supply.

The statement was signed by the company’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Kirk-Mensah.
