The Friends of the Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Issah Mohammed Bataglia, have donated a modern delivery bed to the Tumu Municipal Hospital to support maternal healthcare delivery in the area.

The donation formed part of an engagement with the hospital during which the group inspected the delivery room, operating theatre and other units of the facility.
During the inspection, the team observed inadequate privacy for expectant mothers in the delivery room and brought the concern to the attention of the hospital authorities.
The group subsequently committed to providing funds to help address the privacy challenge and improve the conditions under which expectant mothers receive care. Receiving the delivery bed on behalf of the hospital, the Head of Pharmacy, Mr Pham Johnson, expressed appreciation to the donors for the intervention.

He assured the group that the equipment would be properly maintained and put to good use to improve delivery services at the facility.
Mr Johnson, however, appealed for further support for the hospital, particularly for the establishment of a children’s ward and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
He also called for assistance towards the provision of a phototherapy machine and an X-ray machine to enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide healthcare services.
BESS supports three schools
Meanwhile, the Bataglia Educational Support Scheme (BESS) has extended educational support to schools in Banu, Bassisan and Pina in the Sissala East Municipality.

At Banu, the scheme donated 94 dual desks, three sets of New Curriculum textbooks, primary and kindergarten learning materials, exercise books, pens, mathematical sets and other educational resources.

The Bassisan School received textbooks, kindergarten books, exercise books, mathematical sets and other learning materials, while Pina received two sets of New Curriculum textbooks covering all subjects, alongside exercise books, mathematical sets, pens and other educational materials.
The materials were handed over to representatives of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who facilitated their presentation to the respective schools and communities.
The interventions are intended to support teaching and learning and improve access to basic educational resources in the beneficiary communities.
