The Akrofuom Divisional Council has bestowed the title of Asomdwehene (Chief of Peace) on

Mr. Maurice Jonas Woode, former District Chief Executive of the district.

He was enstooled as Asomdweehene under the Stool Name, Nana Asare Barfour.

The honour is in recognition of his outstanding leadership qualities.

The Traditional Council noted that as the chairman of the District Security Council (DISEC), the new chief had played a pivotal role in resolving emergency chieftaincy disputes that had the potential of disrupting peace and stability of the district.

The Council said Nana Asare Baffour had helped to maintain harmony in the area, through his timely interventions, impartial leadership and a strong commitment to security.

The Council members advised the youth in the area to emulate the humility, dedication and leadership qualities of the new chief.

Nana Asare Baffour expressed appreciation for the honour done him by the chiefs and people of Akrofuom.

He said he was performing his duties as part of his responsibility and efforts to maintain peace and order in the district, and never imagined that the traditional leadership had taken due recognition of his role.

The Asomdweehene said the honour and credit was to be shared by members of the DISEC team and traditional leaders whose collaboration helped to sustain peace and order in the area.

He assured his commitment to the development of Akrofuom focusing on youth empowerment and peace.

He mentioned some of the initiatives for youth empowerment as skill training programmes, community engagement activities and recreational and educational programmes.

The enstoolment ceremony was witnessed by a large number of traditional leaders, community and family members and well-wishers.
