The Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), in collaboration with the Coconut Federation-Ghana (COCOFEG) and AgriOne Technologies, has donated coconut seedlings to the University of Ghana as part of activities marking the University’s Green Week 2026 celebration.

The donation forms part of the University’s campus tree-planting campaign and seeks to promote environmental sustainability, climate-smart agriculture and youth participation in Ghana’s growing horticultural sector.

Speaking during the presentation, President of FAGE, Mr. Davies Narh Korboe, said the initiative goes beyond tree planting and represents an investment in Ghana’s future through agriculture.

According to him, every coconut tree planted symbolizes food security, climate resilience, wealth creation and opportunities for young people to venture into agribusiness.

He noted that the initiative also serves as a precursor to the Ghana Horticulture Expo 2026, scheduled for September 3 to 5 at the Palms Convention Center of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

Mr. Korboe encouraged students and young entrepreneurs across the country to participate in the Expo, describing it as a platform where innovation, investment and partnerships converge to create opportunities within Ghana’s horticultural industry.

He explained that the event will bring together exporters, investors, researchers, development partners, financial institutions, policymakers and young agric entrepreneurs to explore investment prospects along the horticultural value chain.

The Expo is expected to feature exhibitions, investment forums, technology showcases, business-to-business engagements, youth innovation sessions and policy dialogues aimed at strengthening Ghana’s horticultural sector and expanding export opportunities.

Vice President of the Coconut Federation-Ghana (COCOFEG), Mr. Kwaku Boateng, urged young Ghanaians to consider horticulture as a viable career path capable of driving national development, job creation and economic transformation.

Receiving the seedlings on behalf of the University of Ghana Green Week leadership, officials expressed appreciation to FAGE and its partners, describing the donation as a lasting legacy that aligns with the University’s commitment to environmental conservation, practical learning, entrepreneurship and sustainable agriculture.

FAGE, COCOFEG and AgriOne Technologies reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with educational institutions and other industry stakeholders to empower the youth, promote climate-resilient agriculture and position Ghana as a leading hub for sustainable horticulture and high-value agricultural exports.
