The Chief of Essuowin, Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V, has officially cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern Senior High School in the community. The project is aimed at improving access to quality education for residents, particularly students who are unable to gain admission into some of the country’s top senior high schools.
The ceremony attracted a number of dignitaries, including traditional leaders, educational and district directors, as well as other key stakeholders. Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V emphasized that the initiative seeks to provide opportunities for students who miss out on attending SHS due to lack of schools in the Amansie West District
“We want to create a school that gives our children the same quality and chances as those in the big name schools,” he said. He added that the project also aligns with government efforts to improve the country’s educational system.
“This is our contribution to national development through education,” Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V noted during the ceremony last Friday. The chief had already donated GH¢500,000 and 10,000 concrete blocks for the construction besides releasing a 25-acre land for the school project as seed contribution.
He pledged his continuous support to ensuring that the project is a successfully completed.
Nana Akyena Kwagyan Nuama V appealed to the government, NGOs and other stakeholders to support the project.
Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Kwame Owusu Nuako, revealed that all needed drawings and documentation for the project have been completed. He expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including miners, government officials, traditional authorities, and individuals who have contributed to the project so far. Mr. Owusu Nuako called on all and sundry to support the initiative for the sake of children as future leaders.
