The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) has organised a three-day orientation course for 394 newly recruited staff to fill vacancies at the Regional Coordinating Council and the 33 Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs).
The orientation was aimed at providing comprehensive training to the participants to help improve their efficiency and professionalism in the discharge of the duties assigned them at their respective posts.
The orientation training, which started on Tuesday 21st and ended on Friday 24th of November 2023, took the participants through the code of conduct, rules and regulations, and organisational ethics among others.
The Chief Director of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. John Donkor, urged the officers to consider the Local Government Service in its national essence, commit fully and remain abreast with its mechanisms to affect the realisation of the vision and mandate of the Service.
Mr. Donkor entreated them to imbibe technical knowledge to take on their roles effectively, as technocratic bureaucrats in their various Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region.
He charged them to help maintain the good reputation of the Local Government Service, and consider continuous professional development as key to the evolving working environment.
The Eastern Regional Head of Human Resource, Mr. Cyril Xatse, said the program was to improve the newly recruited staff to create familiarities among them, as well as understand what the Local Government was in the development of Ghana.
Mr. Xatse cited that, the Local Government Service necessitated seriousness and commitment, hence, they should work assiduously in the delivery of their various job descriptions.
The Eastern Regional Director of Finance, Dr. Otopa Alexander, on his part, admonished the new recruits to adopt loyalty, teamwork, punctuality, and a results-oriented attitude, which already existed in the Service.
He advised them to promote and protect the good cause of the Local Government Service through their conduct wherever they find themselves.
The newly recruited staff comprises Budget Officers, Administrators, Community Development Officers, Planning Officers, Human Resource Management Officers, Physical Planning Officers, Works Engineering Officers, and Procurement Officers.
Presentations were made on Local Government Systems, Local Government Protocols, and Cross-Cutting Local Government issues, to enlighten them on their new job.
Certificates of participation were given to all the new recruits for successfully going through the orientation training.
