Earth Care Ghana, in collaboration with FORIG, KNUST, and international partners, has organised the Ghana Cocoa Innovation Leadership BootCamp 2026 to sensitise local farmers on modern cocoa farming techniques.
The boot camp aims to train cocoa farmers in modern technology and innovative ideas, helping them increase yields and access new markets.
The event also offers scholarship opportunities for children of cocoa farmers to pursue degrees and PhDs at foreign universities.
The initiative will equip cocoa farmers with modern technology, innovative production methods, and value addition skills.
The five-year project seeks to boost cocoa yields, promote sustainable practices and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.
Mr Clement Kwame Appiah-Kubi, CEO of Earth Care Ghana emphasised the importance of innovative approaches to increase cocoa productivity and profitability.
He encouraged farmers to learn and share ideas on how to gain maximum profit from their cocoa farms.
The CEO disclosed that some key areas of the boot camp include targeting youth between 17 and 40 years with plans to distribute one million cocoa seedlings and create over 500 direct jobs. The CEO also mentioned promoting agroforestry, climate-smart agriculture and environmental sustainability, advocating for youth-focused cocoa sustainability, promoting good agricultural practices and providing Fair Trade premiums.
Associate Prof. Korawit Chaisu, from Thailand, highlighted Thailand’s success in nurturing cocoa communities through research and technology, moving farmers from the informal to the formal sector.
Dr. James Amposah, from FORIG, emphasised the project’s goal of sharing innovative approaches with local farmers, promoting sustainable cocoa farming practices, and adding value to their products.
