Police in Kintampo, in the Bono East Region on Sunday July 19, 2026 arrested a gang of six (6) armed men who allegedly robbed a businessman of GHC 300,000 (Three hundred thousand Ghana Cedis).
Information available to The Chronicle from a deep-throat source at the Police Headquarters in Accra indicates that on Sunday, while Police were on duty at Portor Barrier, they had intelligence that robbery was in progress a few meters from the checkpoint. 
A team of armed personnel on duty, led by a Chief Inspector, advanced to the robbery scene.On getting there, four of the robbers fled into the bush.
However, police arrested one Abdul Sadat Ali, 24, who was driving a Toyota Voxy, with registration number AS1541-25.Also parked at the scene was a Kia Rhino with registration number AS7337-23.
During interrogation, the Toyota Voxy driver mentioned the Kia Rhino truck driver, Samed Issaka, 24, as an accomplice in the robbery.
On the spot investigation by the police identified one Yahaya Seidu, 35, as owner of the Kia Rhino truck.Police was told that he instructed his driver to take him from Offinso in the Ashanti Region to Buipe to buy cattle.
It came to light from the account of the Voxy driver that, the Rhino driver, aware that his boss was carrying huge sums of money, arranged with the gangsters to attack and rob them on the way. Armed with a toy gun, they trailed the truck and caught up with them few meters to the Police barrier at Portor and carried out the act.
Personnel of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) went to beef up the operation in the bush, leading to the arrest of the robbers, who escaped into the bush. A search conducted on them led to the retrieval of GHC300,000 (Three hundred thousand Ghana Cedis). They are Abdul Rahman Mashud, 21, Asigri Avoka, 25, Awini Stephen, 19 and Faisal Salifu, 26.
