A dismissed Managing Director of Earlbeam Company Limited, Alfred Danso Darkwah, has been accused of stealing £2,400.00 and GH¢60.00 from a former employer.
The 39-year-old allegedly stole the monies as retaliation for his dismissal by the company.
Alfred was arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court on two counts of stealing, but failed to appear in court on Monday.
The court, presided over by His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah, has issued a bench warrant for the accused to be arrested.
Mr. Acquah has, however, adjourned the case to July 31, 2023.
The brief facts of the case are that the complainant is Michael Danso Darkwah, an Operations Manager of Earlbeam Company Limited.
The accused, Alfred Danso Darkwah, who is now a Businessman and lives at Cantonments in Accra, was the Managing Director of Earlbeam Company Limited, headquartered at Dzorwulu.
On June 9, 2023, the company, through its Board Chairman, wrote a letter to terminate the appointment of the accused as the Managing Director.
However, the accused, who disagreed with the termination of his appointment, sent the matter to a civil court, which is still pending.
In spite of the ongoing court matter, on June 14, 2023, the accused went to the company and forcefully collected cash in the sum of £2,400.00 from one of the clients through its accountant.
Similarly, on June 15 2023, the accused again went to a restaurant owned by the company and changed the point of sale (POS) system.
He then used the new POS machine to receive GH¢60.00 from clients of the company.
A report was made to the police and the accused was arrested.
The accused admitted collecting £2,400.00 and the GH¢60.00 from the company, but stated that, the company owed him.
After investigations, he was charged with the offences accordingly.
