Danlad’s heroics earns Kotoko vital point in Berekum

Berekum Chelsea arguably made home advantage count but failed to get all three points from Asante Kotoko after a pulsating 0-0 stalemate at the Golden City Park in week 13 of the Ghana Premier League.

Danlad Ibrahim’s heroics played a key role and was the main reason the Porcupine Warriors will left Berekum with a point.

After a poor first half display, Chelsea came really strong in the second half and nearly took the lead in the 60th minute but Kofi Owusu failed to connect Jackson Owusu’s sumptuous pass.

Kotoko struggled to settle throughout the game until Augustine Agyapong’s javelin throw nearly caused havoc at the Chelsea backline, but was headed out by Anokye Badu.

Chelsea had another chance but Nasiru Osman’s cross wasn’t handled properly by Evans Obeng.

Berekum Chelsea was awarded a penalty in the 77th minute. Stephen Anokye Badu stepped up but his effort was saved by Danlad Ibrahim.

The Porcupine Warriors in a quick response saw Augustine Agyapong combine nicely with Richmond Lamptey but shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Another scare for the league leaders came through an indirect free kick awarded against Danlad in the 83rd minute. Kofi Owusu’s delivery took a deflection and resulted in a wasted corner kick.

After five minutes of additional time, referee Jones Akubiem blew his whistle to bring proceedings to an end.
