The Cosby 1 College of Fashion has held its fifth graduation ceremony, with a call on graduates to uphold competence, discipline and creativity as they enter the fashion industry.

Speaking at the event held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Accra, the Director of the college, Daniel Kwabena O. Cosby, said the institution was established to equip young people with practical skills to secure their future, particularly those who are not pursuing formal academic education.

He explained that his long-standing role in supervising interns from polytechnics inspired him to open a fashion school to train more people in employable skills.

Mr Cosby noted that the college, located at Adenta, Gyata Junction, had engaged some of its alumni as instructors and expressed gratitude to parents for entrusting their wards to the institution.

He highlighted the growing opportunities within the fashion industry, stating that the demand for clothing ensures sustainable prospects for skilled designers.

He advised the graduates to respect clients’ deadlines, remain dedicated to quality service and prioritise skill and professionalism over the pursuit of money.

The Director also announced that admission to the college remains open to prospective students.

A Senior Administrator at the Ghana TVET Service, Diana Nkrumah, urged the graduates to strive for a “competence advantage” by combining technical expertise with good character.

She emphasised that accurate measurements, reliability and punctuality were essential traits for tailors and dressmakers seeking to retain customers.

Ms Nkrumah further encouraged the graduates to leverage social media platforms to market their designs, cultivate a savings culture, and explore investment opportunities to support their entrepreneurial ambitions.

She commended the college for contributing to skills development and self-employment amid rising youth unemployment.

The ceremony featured a colourful runway display where the 85 graduating students showcased outfits, they designed as part of completing their training, drawing cheers from the audience as models took to the catwalk.

Delivering the valedictory address on behalf of the Class of 2024/2025, Mavis Doku-Amoah described the occasion as a celebration of resilience, creativity and perseverance.

She urged her colleagues to uphold craftsmanship, innovation and integrity as they pursue careers in the fast-evolving fashion industry.

“Don’t just chase trends; start conversations. Don’t just make clothes; make history,” she said, while expressing gratitude to the college’s leadership, tutors and families for their support throughout their training.
