The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odenebo Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, has expressed concern over the growing culture of insults in Ghana’s body politics.
According to him, politics of insults is not part of Ghanaian culture, and he appealed to politicians, especially party communicators, to embrace issue-based politics devoid of insults in order to enhance development in the region.
Chairman Kwaku Appiah made the remarks at a victory dinner and party with members of the media in Kumasi.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the media for their support in his political journey over the years, which culminated in his historic victory a week ago.
COKA noted there had been some issues between the Ashanti Regional NPP and the media but believed it was not too late to iron them out and pleaded with the media to help leave the past behind and move forward because nobody can succeed in politics without the media.
He stated that the new regional executives are opening a new chapter for the NPP in Ashanti.
He has, therefore, directed that any NPP communicator invited to a radio programme must be cleared by the Regional Communications Director. He urged the media not to let just anybody go on a radio programme to say anything.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman urged party members and the media to live in harmony and not let the region down.
He further assured the media of the party’s continuous support and promised to support the media’s end-of-year get-together.
