Nana Boadi Ababio II, Chief of Atwima Hwidiem in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, has appealed to stakeholders and policy makers, especially in the Water and Sanitation sector, to come to the aid of the community.
The Chief appealed to the government, through the District Assembly, Member of Parliament, philanthropists, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) or Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and corporate bodies to come to their aid towards the building of a toilet facility project to avoid communicable diseases outbreaks like Cholera and Diarrhea.
He is seeking assistance for the construction of a public toilet facility for the community to stop open defecation and avoid the possible outbreak of diseases.
According to him, the only public toilet in the community collapsed recently, thus compelling most of the residents to resort to indiscriminate open defecation.
Nana Boadi expressed worry over the situation, which, he said, was posing a hazard to public health if not addressed urgently.
He mentioned that he and his elders were vigorously making frantic efforts to ensure that the facility was replaced with a new one in spite of their limited resources.
