A 40-year-old businessman, Samuel Lartey Ayin, has been arraigned before Circuit Court 8 in Accra, presided over by His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan, on a charge of fraudulent breach of trust

Samuel Lartey Ayin’s plea was not taken when he made his first appearance. The court granted him bail in the sum of GH¢150,000 with two sureties, one of whom must be justified. The case was adjourned to December 22, 2025.

According to the brief facts presented in court, the complainant, Agwu Ebuka, a trader and the accused, both residents of Teshie Camp 2, had engaged in a financial arrangement in May and June 2025.

Prosecutors said Lartey introduced Ebuka to his uncle, Francis Adotei, from whom Ebuka borrowed GH¢200,000 to clear goods from the port.

After successfully clearing the goods, the complainant reportedly returned GH¢250,000 – the principal amount plus GH¢50,000 interest – to the accused in the presence of a witness, Emmanuel Okafor, believing Lartey would hand over the full sum to his uncle.

However, the prosecution stated that Lartey delivered only GH¢100,000 to his uncle and allegedly misappropriated the remaining GH¢150,000.

Following repeated demands from Adotei for the outstanding amount, Ebuka confronted the accused, and when the money was not returned, he lodged a complaint with the police.

Lartey was subsequently arrested and, after investigations, charged and brought before the court.

The case continues on December 22, 2025.
