The Ghana Police Service has foiled an attempted robbery at the GCB Bank branch at Labone in Accra.The incident occurred today, Thursday, August 13, 2026, with the Police confirming that two suspects have been gunned down while another has been arrested.
According to the Police, the suspects were attempting to carry out a robbery at the bank when officers intervened and foiled the operation.
The Police Service, in a breaking news statement issued on Thursday, said: “The Ghana Police Service today 13th August, 2026, foiled a robbery attempt on the GCB Bank, Labone Accra. Two suspects have been gunned down and one has been arrested.”
The identities of the suspects, circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether any weapons or other items were retrieved from the suspects have not yet been disclosed.
The Police have also not provided details on whether any member of the public, bank staff or security personnel sustained injuries during the incident.
The Service said further details would be communicated as investigations continue.
