The Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, has cut the sod for work to begin on the construction of a one-kilometre Sunyani town road, as part of her day’s working visit in the Sunyani Municipality.
The road project, costing GH¢4 million, stretches through Social Welfare Department to the Nana Bosoma Central Market, and connects to the Sunyani main garage.
The project includes asphalting, constructing walkways, and streetlight, and is expected to be completed within 11 months.
Madam Owusu-Banahene appealed to residents within the enclave to cooperate with the contractors for the work to be completed as scheduled.
She said taxation remained the surest way to facilitate development, and advised taxpayers to pay their taxes and rates to enable the Municipal Assembly to mobilise the needed revenue required for development.
The Regional Minister cautioned the contractors against shoddy works, and asked residents to develop an interest and monitor the project as well.
The Akwamuhene of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Kwaku Sabeng II, commended the government for the project, and appealed for the reshaping of other roads in the Municipality.
Earlier, Madam Owusu Banahene inaugurated a six-unit classroom block with offices, a library and store for the Sunyani Municipal Assembly Primary School, and interacted with the staff of the Municipal Assembly and members of the Sunyani Traditional Council.
