About 1,000 delegates comprising chairpersons, directors, regulators and governance professionals from across Africa are expected to converge in Accra for a day’s Boardroom Governance Summit (BGS) Africa 2026.

The Summit, under the theme “Board Committees: From Oversight to Impact,” is aimed at strengthening board practice across Africa to ensure “Strong Boards. Strong Institutions. Strong Nations.”

The Summit originally scheduled for October 7, will now take place on Thursday November 12, 2026 at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra. A statement issued on October 4, 2026 by BGS Africa, a not-for-profit platform, indicated that the decision follows consultation with principal partners, speakers and guests of honour.

It explained that interest in the summit has grown well beyond expectations, with most of it now coming from outside Ghana and expects the additional weeks to give  chairpersons, directors and governance leaders from across the continent time to secure travel and visas to Ghana.

The new date also coincides with the completion of the Labadi Beach Hotel’s beachfront restoration project, part of a wider effort to improve the environment the hotel shares with its neighbouring community.

The hotel is working with community leaders to settle all matters amicably to enable delegates gather in a refreshed setting worthy of Africa’s boardrooms.

“What began as a Ghanaian gathering now belongs to the whole continent,” said Ing. Prof. Douglas K. Boateng, Founder and Convenor of BGS Africa said.

“The rest of Africa is coming to Ghana and we want to receive our fellow Africans properly. A short delay is a modest price for a summit that is better prepared, more inclusive and truly continental in reach.”

The organisers, however, confirmed that the summit is going ahead and has not been cancelled and that all registrations and tickets already issued remain valid and still open.

It is further explained that delegate benefits are unchanged, including summit access, breakfast and lunch, a complimentary copy of Practical Perspectives on the Committees of the Board, and CPD recognition for members of partner institutions.

“Sponsorship and partnership benefits remain in place; and delegates unable to attend on November 12 are entitled to a refund”, the organisers stated.
