“And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”-2 Corinthians 5:15 (NKJV)

Introduction

Easter is the heartbeat of the Christian faith. It is not just a date on the calendar or a moment of celebration but it is the greatest demonstration of love the world has ever known. It is the story of sacrifice, redemption, and victory.

God, in His infinite love, sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world. Jesus did not come as a distant figure, untouched by human experience. He came and lived among us. He felt hunger, pain, rejection, and sorrow. Yet, in all of this, He remained without sin. He walked in obedience to the Father, showing us what it means to live a life fully surrendered to God.

Then came the cross. The cross was not an accident. It was not a mistake. It was a divine plan. Jesus willingly laid down His life. He took upon Himself the weight of our sins, the guilt we could not bear, and the punishment we deserved. He was wounded so that we might be healed. He was rejected so that we might be accepted. He died so that we might truly live.

And then, on the third day, everything changed.

The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate victory. It is the assurance that sin has been defeated, death has been conquered, and hope has been restored. The empty tomb is not just a symbol. It is a declaration that God’s power is greater than anything we will ever face.

When we truly understand what Easter means, it moves from being a story we know to a truth that transforms us. It invites us into a new way of living.

BECAUSE JESUS DIED FOR ME, THIS IS HOW I MUST LIVE

The sacrifice of Jesus is not just something to remember. It is something that should shape every part of our lives.

These truths are not meant to remain as words on a page. They are practical ways we can live daily in response to His sacrifice. They guide how we think, how we act, and how we relate to God and to others. As we reflect on them, we are encouraged not to walk this journey alone, but together, reminding one another that because Jesus died for us, our lives must reflect Him.

  1. We Want to Know Him More

Because Jesus died for us, we desire to know Him more deeply.

This is not about knowing facts or memorizing words. It is about building a relationship. His Word becomes a guide for our lives. It shapes our thoughts, corrects our ways, and draws us closer to Him. In moments of confusion, His Word gives clarity. In times of weakness, it gives strength. In seasons of waiting, it gives hope. To honour Him, we must go beyond simply hearing His Word. We must live it out daily, allowing it to transform who we are from the inside out.

  1. We Will Stand Firm in Our Faith

Because Jesus died for us, we must stand firm in our faith.

The world we live in is constantly changing. Values shift, opinions rise and fall, and truth is often challenged. In such a world, it is easy to blend in, to remain silent, or to compromise. But the sacrifice of Jesus reminds us that our faith is precious and worth defending. Standing firm does not mean being harsh or unkind. It means living with conviction, walking in truth, and refusing to let go of what we believe. It means trusting God even when it is difficult and holding on even when we do not fully understand.

  1. We Will Submit to His Authority

Because Jesus died for us, we must submit to His authority.

Jesus is not only our Saviour. He is our Lord. This means He has the final say in our lives. It means we trust His wisdom above our own understanding. Sometimes, surrender is not easy. There are moments when we want to go our own way or follow our own desires. But true peace comes when we yield to Him. His authority is not oppressive. It is loving. It guides us into a life of purpose, direction, and fulfillment. When we place our lives in His hands, we discover that His plans are always better than ours.

  1. We Will Choose to Forgive

Because Jesus died for us, we must forgive.

Forgiveness is one of the clearest reflections of God’s love in our lives. We have all been hurt at some point. We have all experienced pain caused by others. Yet, when we look at the cross, we see Jesus choosing forgiveness even in the midst of suffering. He did not hold on to anger. He released grace.

To forgive does not mean pretending that the hurt did not happen. It means choosing not to let that hurt control us. It means releasing the burden and trusting God with the outcome. When we forgive, we are not only obeying God, we are also freeing our own hearts. Bitterness weighs us down, but forgiveness lifts us up.

  1. We Will Live a Life of Purpose and Service

Because Jesus died for us, we must live a life of purpose.

Faith is not passive. It is active. It is expressed through how we live, how we treat others, and how we serve. Each day presents an opportunity to reflect the love of Christ. It may be through a kind word, a helping hand, a listening ear, or an act of generosity. No act is too small when it is done in love.

Living with purpose means recognizing that our lives are not our own. We have been called to make a difference, to be a light in darkness, and to bring hope to those around us. It means using our gifts, our time, and our resources to honour God and bless others.

Conclusion

Easter reminds us that love is not just spoken. It is demonstrated. It reminds us that sacrifice is not the end. It leads to victory. It reminds us that even in the darkest moments, God is working to bring about something beautiful.

Today, as we reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus, let us not remain unchanged. Let us open our hearts and allow this truth to shape our lives.

Let us live with gratitude, knowing that we are deeply loved.
Let us walk in obedience, knowing that His ways are best.
Let us extend grace, just as we have received grace.
Let us live with purpose, shining His light wherever we go.

Because Jesus died for me, my life has meaning.
Because Jesus rose again, my future has hope.
Because of Easter, I am never the same.
