Bawumia: I Have 33 Policies To My Credit … What about Mahama when he was Veep?

The Flagrearerof the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says he has, as Vice President for the past seven years, suggested 33 policies to the Akufo-Addo government, which are being implemented.

“If you look at the work I have done as a Vice president, I can list 33 different policies I have done or initiated or championed, and if I can do all of these as Vice president, then if you make me president, I can do much more.

“That is why most people will say if you look at all the Vice presidents that have come into this country, you would not find any more effective vice president than Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. The records are there, my main opponent cannot mention one policy he has done or championed”, he said.

Addressing the Muslim Ummah in Wa, last Sunday, the vice President stated that Ghana is at the forefront of digitalisation, following the introduction of E-pharmacy, the Ghana card, the Digital Address system and the Mobile Money Interoperability, which enables “you to move money from one mobile network to another, and even move money from your bank account to your mobile money account”. This, he said, could only be found in Ghana.

The flagbearer of the NPP also pointed out that through digitisation they have eliminated ghost workers from the government payroll, due to the Ghana Card. The government did this by asking all workers to link their Ghana Card to the National Data Base.

He revealed that after the exercise, they found 44,000 ghost workers at the National Service Secretariat (NSS), saving the nation GH¢400 million and Social Security Trust Fund (SSNIT) 19,000 ghost pensioners, saving the country GH¢350 million.

“Two institutions alone have saved the country GH¢750 million”, he said.

Dr. Bawumia further indicated that other countries are coming to Ghana to learn how “our digital system is working, because we have become the forefront of digitalisation”, he said, noting that when  given the mantle he would train 1 million youth in digital skills and the only qualification one will need is how to read and write.

He added that this will allow them to even gain employment beyond the borders of this country, while sitting at their homes.
