Lawyer Barima Sarpong received a warm reception from traditional leaders, party faithful and Residents across Afigya Sekyere East, during a constituency-wide visit aimed at reconnecting with the grassroots and reaffirming his commitment to the area’s development.

The visit commenced with a courtesy call on the Dawumanhene, Nana Frimpong Ababio Otumfuo Brempong, at his palace in Dawu, where the chief welcomed him and offered prayers and blessings for his aspiration to serve the constituency.

“I pray that God grants you wisdom, strength and favour as you seek to serve your people,” Nana Frimpong Ababio reportedly told the lawyer during the meeting.

Lawyer Barima subsequently toured Tabre and Jamasi, engaging opinion leaders, New Patriotic Party (NPP) stakeholders, youth groups and residents on issues affecting the constituency and his vision for its future.

A major highlight of the visit was a meeting with former Chief of Staff under the administration of President John Agyekum Kufuor, Mr Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani, who welcomed him to his residence and encouraged continued engagement with the people at the grassroots level.

Addressing gatherings at various durbars, Lawyer Barima reflected on his deep connection to the constituency and the role the people have played in shaping his life and values.

“Dawu, Tabre and Jamasi are more than communities to me; they are the foundation of who I am. I have returned home because I believe service to my people is both a responsibility and a privilege,” he said.

The visit attracted enthusiastic support from residents and party members, many of whom described him as approachable, humble and committed to the welfare of the constituency. Supporters repeatedly chanted slogans endorsing his leadership and expressing confidence in his ability to represent their interests.

Lawyer Barima, who contested the NPP parliamentary primary in 2023, said his desire to serve the people of Afigya Sekyere East remains unwavering despite the outcome of the contest.

“God has a purpose for every season. I remain hopeful and committed to serving with integrity, humility, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of our people,” he stated.

Both Nana Frimpong Ababio and Mr Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani offered words of encouragement and blessings, urging him to maintain close ties with constituents and continue championing development initiatives within the area.

The visit has reignited discussions within the NPP and among residents about the future political leadership of Afigya Sekyere East, with many viewing the engagement as a significant step in strengthening grassroots connections ahead of future electoral contests.
