Residents of Asuokor, Domeabra, and surrounding communities in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region are set to benefit from ongoing road rehabilitation works aimed at improving accessibility, safety, and economic activity in the area.
For years, the deplorable condition of roads linking Asuokor to nearby communities has hindered the movement of goods and services, particularly affecting farmers who rely on these routes to transport produce to market centres.
But Mr. Abubakar Sadik the District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West, has assured residents that the reshaping of deteriorating roads in the enclave would be executed to high standards to bring much-needed relief to commuters, farmers, and traders who have long endured challenges posed by the poor road network.
The intervention forms part of broader efforts by the District Assembly to enhance infrastructure and promote inclusive development. During an inspection of the ongoing works, Mr. Sadik expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, noting that the initiative demonstrates the Assembly’s commitment to addressing critical infrastructure deficits within the district.
The DCE disclosed that state of the roads has been a major concern for residents and stakeholders.
He assure the people that quality will not be compromised to make the roads accessible and safe for everyone. The DCE emphasised that improving road infrastructure remains a key priority for the Assembly, as it directly impacts economic growth and the overall well-being of residents. He noted that better roads would facilitate easier transportation, reduce travel time, and boost commercial activities across the district.
In addition to the ongoing works in Asuokor, Mr. Sadik disclosed that the road behind the Domeabra School is also undergoing reshaping. He further revealed that plans are far advanced to extend the rehabilitation exercise to roads within Domeabra Township once the current phase is completed.
Residents have welcomed the development with optimism, expressing hope that the intervention will bring lasting relief and open up the area for increased economic opportunities.
