The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has spearheaded a comprehensive Practical Science Clinic Fair to equip students with essential scientific skills ahead of their final examinations.

This bold and strategic intervention aimed at improving academic performance and enhancing practical learning among Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.

The high-impact educational programme, organized under the auspices of the MP and implemented through Learn Right Education Consult, brought together 319 students from both private and public basic schools across the Asuogyaman District, all of whom were participants in the 2025 AmpemEduCamp.

The clinic was held on Saturday, at the Akosombo VRA Complex School, transforming the school into a vibrant centre of scientific discovery, experimentation, and academic empowerment.

The initiative formed part of a carefully designed post-EduCamp intervention strategy intended not only to sustain the momentum generated by the educational camp, but also to provide students with a practical, hands-on understanding of science concepts, an area that has historically posed challenges for many candidates preparing for the BECE.

Speaking on the significance of the intervention,  Thomas Nyarko Ampem emphasized that quality education must go beyond classroom instruction and theoretical learning, stressing the need for practical engagement that enables students to understand, appreciate, and confidently apply scientific principles.

According to him, science remains one of the most critical subjects in shaping the intellectual and professional future of young learners, particularly in an era where innovation, technology, and problem-solving capabilities are increasingly defining national development.

He noted that creating opportunities for students to engage directly with scientific experiments and practical demonstrations is key to building confidence and improving examination outcomes.

“This Practical Science Clinic Fair is a deliberate investment in the future of our children. Education is the strongest foundation upon which sustainable development can be built, and as leaders, we must commit resources to interventions that directly impact learning outcomes. Our goal is to ensure that students in Asuogyaman are academically competitive and fully prepared to excel,” he stated.

The programme exposed students to a wide range of practical science lessons, laboratory demonstrations, guided experiments, and interactive learning sessions facilitated by experienced science educators and consultants from Learn Right Education Consult.

Through these sessions, students were given the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-life scientific procedures, deepening their understanding of concepts in chemistry, biology, and physics at the basic school level.

Education stakeholders present at the event praised the initiative as timely and transformative, noting that one of the greatest barriers confronting many BECE candidates is the lack of exposure to practical science experiences due to inadequate laboratory facilities, limited instructional resources, and insufficient hands-on teaching opportunities in some schools.

They observed that by bridging the gap between theory and application, the programme has significantly enhanced students’ readiness for the practical components of their examinations while also nurturing curiosity, analytical thinking, and confidence, qualities essential for academic excellence.

Teachers whose students participated in the clinic described the intervention as a game-changer, expressing optimism that the practical orientation provided would positively reflect in the candidates’ examination performance.

Parents and guardians also commended Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem for what they described as a visionary educational investment, highlighting his consistent commitment to youth development, academic support programs, and constituency-wide educational advancement.

The 2025 AmpemEduCamp, which preceded the science clinic, had already laid a strong academic foundation by providing intensive coaching, mentoring, and examination preparation support for BECE candidates.

The addition of the Practical Science Clinic Fair further demonstrates a holistic educational strategy that addresses both theoretical understanding and practical competence.

As the candidates prepare to sit for their BECE examinations, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem extended his heartfelt encouragement and best wishes to all participants, urging them to approach their studies with discipline, determination, and confidence.

He charged them to believe in their abilities, remain focused on their goals, and strive for excellence not only in their examinations, but in every stage of their educational journey.
