Arsenal fans fume over yellow & black away kit, insist design ‘not appropriate for Champions League’

Arsenal fans have taken to social media to vent their anger after the club released a controversial new away kit for the 2023-24 season.

The Gunners revealed their new strip on Tuesday morning and the bold yellow-and-black design hasn’t gone down well with some fans.

The new kit celebrates the club’s Islington roots and comes in a striking fluorescent yellow design, with wavy black lines – which represents a map of the London borough.

Launching the new shirt, Arsenal released a promotional video featuring Gunners stars from both the men’s and women’s team, along with celebrity fans such as Mabel and Martin Kemp.

Arsenal fans will get to see the shirt in action for the first time when Mikel Arteta’s side face an MLS All-Stars side led by Wayne Rooney in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

However, the design has already been blasted online by fans left horrified by the away strip, which replaces last year’s popular black and gold change shirt.

‘Absolutely disgusting, won’t be buying that.’ One fan wrote on Twitter, while another simply stated: ‘This is the worst jersey my team has ever had.’

There was even a suggestion that the shirt wasn’t right for Arsenal’s return to the Champions League, with one fan commenting: ‘You chose the worst timing. This is not appropriate for the Champions League.’
